| April 20, 2006 | | If their "Zestimate" looks a lot higher than you ever imagined we suggest you ask them to send the money! :-) | You may have been hearing a lot about a new service (in Beta) that purports to offer “free, unbiased valuations on more than 40 million homes across the United States, with data on an additional 20 million homes. -- “All consumers need to do is enter an address.”
This is certainly a fun (and addictive) site to visit but be sure to realize that this is in “Beta” (testing mode). Also be sure to read all the caveats where you will find that these folks call their value estimates “Zestimates” which they define as “-- really a starting point in figuring out the true value of a house.” They also add that “a variety of things can affect the accuracy of the Zestimate”.
If their "Zestimate" looks a lot higher than you ever imagined we suggest you ask them to send the money! :-) Once you get over the shock of how over valued (or undervalued) the Zestimate may be on your house, just give a smart real estate professional a call and they'll get you the real scoop!
